Another problem is when your plant doesn't have enough time to dry so there is a risk of fungus forming, so you should avoid watering at night.

Everybody agrees that the best time to water your tomatoes are early morning. If you think about this tip, it really make sense the water has the rest of the morning to soak in the soil, and the plant leaves have enough time to dry. Watering between sunset and dark will also work pretty good.
